The new-building frenzy for Walt Disney Concert Hall is beginning to wear off a bit, so student rush tickets are once again more readily available for the LA Phil! YAY!
There are also fantastic $15 seats up on stage, behind the orchestra - called the "choral benches," sitting there can be particularly fun, and not to mention cheap. But make sure you check out the repertory for the particular program: avoid programs with a vocal soloist, as you won't really be able to hear him/her as she sings away from you, and piano concertos can be a big problematic also, with the lid opening away from you. The seats aren't availble for programs that include a chorus (hence "choral benches"). But for many big orchestral works, the seats are great, and you can watch the conductor go wild, too!
